Paisley kimono & cut-out boots

// Kimono: Missguided // Jeans & socks: Topshop // Boots: Linzi Shoes* // Vest: Primark //
// Necklace: The Bohemian Collective
//

So I've gone and bought into the whole kimono trend. I've been on the look out for one for ages and finally found this one in the perfect colour-way for my black/grey orientated wardrobe (I really need to start branching out)! I love the paisley print, I'm hoping that it will go just as well over black smock and skater dresses as it does dressed down with jeans and a vest!

And how cute are these cut-out boots from Linzi Shoes? The heel is the perfect height - they're so comfy! I'm looking forward to wearing them with all different types of socks, mainly lacy and bright colours, just to give a little pop of colour and interest to an outfit.

How would you style a kimono, casual or dressy? Any recommendations of socks to wear with my new cut-out boots?

On a more personal note, I got back from Creamfields this week and I'm having major festival blues :( I realised that it was my last festival this season and it makes me sad! I need to plan some other things to look forward to before Christmas.

Did you see, I launched a giveaway this week - you could win a beauty and hair product bundle! Including Macadamia Oil hair masks, OSiS 'Dust It' powder, John Frieda volume spray and more!

Raining (cats &) dogs

Clear mac: Miss Luxe* // Vest: Primark // Leigh jeans: Topshop // Wellies: Primark (last year)

As I'm at Creamfields this weekend, I thought it was only fitting that I showed you this amazing mac from Miss Luxe. It's made from a clear plastic, covered in a tiny dog print. I'm no dog expert but I think it might even be a French Bulldog?! Anyway, the forecast says there's meant to be rain (hopefully not too much) so this mac will be coming in pretty handy I think!

I think it looks best over simple outfits, so I've packed some vests, shorts and plain dresses for this to go over the top of. Because it's made from plastic I imagine it's going to be pretty warm and sweaty inside, perfect for in a dance music tent ha... mmmm.

I love my wellies, too. I bought them from Primark last year believe it or not... they haven't even leaked yet either! You can't see from these pictures (maybe due to the residual mud from my last few festivals) but they're leopard print with multicoloured glitter throughout the plastic coating - classy or what!?

Is anyone else at Creamfields this weekend? I hope you all have a lovely bank holiday weekend! :) x

Summer to Autumn...

We've had our little heatwave for this year it seems, so I'm starting to think about making the transition from bare-legged summer outfits to slightly warmer options, but without having to cover up completely.

Leggings are one of my frequent go-to items, they're so so easy to wear with anything and so comfy! Sometimes I can barely bring myself to wear jeans or trousers once I've been wearing leggings for a while haha. I love these leather panelled leggings from Bon Prix, the leather gives a grungy feel to an otherwise plain, comfy item of clothing and the wedge boots add to that look even further. I wanted to pair the navy tunic with some bright accessories, so picked this neon satchel and necklace to make the outfit pop. I don't think orange and navy is a traditional colour combination, but I like it and think they compliment each other quite well!

What's your staple piece to make the summer - autumn transition? x

Summer wedding

Dress: Jones + Jones* // Clutch: Primark // Wedges: Primark

My boyfriend was recently an usher at one of his friend's wedding, he looked so smart in his little usher suit with tails and everything! This was the first proper wedding I've been to as an adult, so it was pretty exciting!

We headed off after work on a Thursday night, to our hotel in Essex, before the wedding on the Friday. We made loads of CDs to make the journey go quicker, so we spent most of the time singing along to TLC, girl/boy bands, rock classics and then bopped along to our favourite drum and bass. We stayed in a Marriott hotel for two nights and it was really lovely, we had the most humongous bed ever as we requested king size ha, plus loads of feather pillows. We've definitely decided we need feather pillows for our bed now. I instagrammed me looking little on the bed here haha.

I went to the Jones + Jones blogger event a while ago and found the perfect wedding guest dress. It's the Natalie dress in a Liberty print. I love the simplicity of the design, as the print says enough for the dress anyway! It just has small lace inserts at the waist, black trim and netting plus a slit opening at the chest. I did have to put a small stitch in the slit as it was a bit too boobie for a wedding! I only stitched about 5cm up from the bottom, but it meant that the top didn't gape open so much. I decided against any accessories, as I thought the dress was eye catching enough as it was :) I really love the print!

The wedding itself was beautiful - the bride looked amazing, I loved her dress. It was a really fun day and the weather was gorgeous. The meal was really tasty and there was a disco and photobooth in the evening! I have to admit I did spend quite a lot of time in the photobooth, who wouldn't?!

For my first proper adult wedding, I was really impressed and can't wait for more of our friends to start getting married! I would definitely recommend checking out Jones + Jones for any weddings or occasions you have coming up, they have some beautiful designs and I was so happy with my choice for the wedding! <3

Pure London - August 2013

About this time last week, I headed off to Pure - a fashion buying event hosted at Olympia, London. It was the first time I've been to Pure and it was a really fun few days!

The event is intended for retailers to browse through brand's collections and bulk buy stock to sell on their sites/in their stores. It's really fun to just wander round and browse the collections, with no intention of buying stock though! It's good to see the prominent trends for the upcoming seasons. I spotted loads of gorgeous prints, including an amazing bicycle print dress from Sugar Hill Boutique that really took my eye. I'm definitely keeping an eye on their site for when that comes online!

There are catwalks from some of the brands on throughout the show. I love the 'Spirit Catwalk' which showcases the young fashion brands from the event - young meaning 20-somethings. Some of my favourite collections were from Chi Chi (first image) and the gorgeous nude occassion dresses from Forever Unique (second image).

I was also asked to speak about the benefits of brands working with bloggers, between myself, Kim from Sweet Monday and my colleague Kate, we spoke for 30 minutes about the dos and don'ts of working with bloggers! It was pretty nervewracking but an amazing opportunity all the same. My speaker page is still on the site here (well, it was when I scheduled this!), check me out haha.

I think Pure is a great place for bloggers to network and meet the faces behind brands! I would definitely recommend popping along for a day next season, if you're near! Have you been to Pure before? x

P.s. this is a scheduled post - I'm currently away on holiday, yay! I will be back on Sunday 18th August and replying to emails, tweets etc again :)

#VintSetFest

A couple of weeks ago I headed back to Birmingham for The Vintage Set Festival, a blogger meet up held at The Custard Factory. It was a really fun evening held in an empty art exhibition type space, with loads of stands from local shops and businesses plus some from a little further away too.

One of the businesses that stood out to me was Nails By Rosie, an amazing nail artist based in The Custard Factory who had a small desk at the event and was offering a free accent nail. The queue was really long and I was constantly being distracted by talking to people so didn't get one done, but Kim had the cute sunflower nail above! Rosie is constantly putting pictures up on her Instagram, so I recommend you follow her here.

It was so lovely to meet Faye from jewellery brand, The Bohemian Collective and also Sophie from Pretty Little Poppet - both are ladies behind online shops which stock their own handmade pieces, which I really admire! I also met and caught up with so many bloggers. There's the oldies who I've met before like Katy and Steph, then some new ladies like Jess, Sophie, Emma, Meg, Claire and of course Lily!

It was a really fun evening with a blogger styling competition, sweets table, BBQ and a Q&A with some industry professionals! If you were there and we didn't get chance to chat, leave your links in the comments below and I will take a look :)

I'm currently on holiday in Italy at the moment and I will be back on Sunday 18th August! :)

Karma

Tie Dye Maxi dress: Karma Clothing* // Wedges: Primark // Clutch: Primark

I've seen a few bloggers plan and style outfits in this way and I wanted to give it a try with this maxi dress from Karma Clothing. Believe it or not, but this is my first ever maxi dress. I know, what kind of blogger am I?! I've just never really been sure whether I would be able to pull them off.

However, when I saw this grey and white tie dye print on Karma Clothing, I knew it was the perfect maxi for me. You may be able to tell from previous outfit posts that I'm a big fan of grey and black colourways haha. The shape of the maxi is also perfectly suited to my body type, I don't like things that are too clingy around the hips and some maxi's seem to be like that, however with the quality of this material and the gathered waist, I don't think this is going to be a problem at all!

I'm waiting for the perfect time to wear this maxi out, I need to build up a bit more courage first of all, but it will definitely be featured in an outfit post on here! In the mean time, check out Karma - all their items are amazingly priced and you can get free shipping on your first order with the code 'FREESHIP1'.

Ed's Easy Diner

A couple of weeks ago I went into Birmingham for the Vintage Set festival event and being an evening event, needed some food before it started of course! Kim and I took advantage of Ed's Diner at Selfridges for our pre-event food.

I love the American diner theme, having never been to America before the whole old-fashioned diner is always quite appealing to me. Ed's diner have really made sure that everything within the restaurant fits the theme perfectly, from the fully working jukeboxes on the tables to the red leather booths to the menu sign.

I had a blue cheese burger meal, which came with chips and onion rings. The chips were really big and chunky which I wasn't expecting, as American style chips are usually skinny french fries. It was a good burger, it didn't really blow me away (I blame places like Patty and Bun for raising my burger expectations too much - that's next on my list of places to try!), but with somewhere like Ed's Diner you're partly going for the experience too.

I did have an oreo milkshake which was amazing. It came in a really traditional metal milkshake jug, which just added to the theme even further. At the Selfridges restaurant, you can sit in a bar section and order milkshakes to drink there, which I might do on my next shopping trip!

Over all, Ed's diner was a nice quick meal. I would recommend popping there for a catch up with friends as the theme and atmosphere are really fun :)

Have you been to Ed's Diner before? What did you think? x
