Graduation Dress Wishlist

1 - 2 - 3
4 - 5 - 6

My University graduation is about a month away now and I'm still searching for the perfect dress. These dresses from House of Fraser are some I've had my eye on for a while. The first dress on the top row and the middle dress on the bottom row are my favourites, due to the neutral colours I think they'd go well with the crazy gown you have to wear! I'm really worried about the little hat too, I had to measure my head and put the size in online, but I'm worried I've measured wrong and it won't fit! Graduation is supposed to be relatively formal I think, so I'm not sure if the bodycon style would be completely appropriate but oh well! One of my other options is this Motel dress, which do you think would be best?

After the graduation ceremony I'm going out for a meal with mine and Josh's families at a restaraunt called The Story Teller. They do amaaaazing food, a combination of Mexican/Caribbean which sounds a bit weird but it's just yum. Despite me and Josh being together for nearly 2 years, this will be the first time our families have met! How weird is that - living opposite sides of the country has that effect sometimes haha.

Which one of these dresses is your favourite? What did you wear, or what would you wear to graduation? x

*Edit (21st June 2013)* I have also featured a more recent Graduation dress wishlist here.

  3. Don't worry about the hat, I had the same fear, but they usually have loads spare and try you out with a few! They're always really crap at staying on your head anyway, everyone at my graduation had the same problem! Have a great time! x

  4. I love the first and last ones! I think dark colours look best with the graduation gown. Take loads of kirby grips to fix your hat in place, mine was far too big but I managed to safely secure it with grips until it passed the wobble test! Have an amazing time :)

  5. Ooh those dresses are lovely! My grad is next week, I got a skater style dress from Zara but it's got a lacey sort of pattern with a sequinned collar (sounds a lot nicer than my description, trust me!). I'm hoping I can get away with not wearing heels though as I'm so paranoid I'll end up falling over on stage! Also concerned about the hat situation, I'm sure I've measured it wrong.. I'll be taking tips from the comments above and taking hair grips! xx

  8. All of these are amazing! :) Number 3 is also a favourite with me :).
I'd recommend bring LOTS of hair pins as well as a safety pin to pin your gown on if you don't have a collar!

  9. Loved you picks, but something to bear in mind- you need either a button to hook your coloured hood onto, or you need to safety pin to attach it- it isn't attached to the gown and won't just sit. I'd say you need a sturdy fabric if you're going to be pinning it in place, as the hoods are quite hefty and might wreck a delecate fabric.

  10. My graduation is next month and I need to sort a dress out too. That bottom middle one is so pretty but I know I'll probably just end up with something black incase I clash with the gown. Measuring your head it definitely a strange experience, dreading having to wear the hat

  11. The very last dress is beautiful. Congrats on graduating - I do so in December but the hat isn't a part of our dress! Xo

  12. You can wear whatever you want really, although black/grey/white is best. Make sure to remember a safety pin to hold the collar part of the gown down to you.
We also went to the Storyteller for graduation - it's got amazing food.
