Camera Advice
I'm looking to buy a DSLR camera but literally have no idea where to start. I'm using my mom's Nikon in the photo above and I'm tempted to buy the same one, but just wondered if anyone had any beginners advice or recommendations for me?
I'm not planning on becoming a professional photographer, or anything even remotely close. I would be using the camera for nice holiday/general life photos, as well as using it for product and outfit shots for my blog. I don't need amazing effects or anything like that, just want good quality photos. :)
Can anyone think of a suitable camera for me? Which camera do you use? And what was your first DSLR? x
My first DSLR was my Canon 1000D (about £300 an something!) it's not made anymore but the 1100D is the closest thing to it that they manufacture now. My 1000D served me well ever since I got it! You can probs still find one on ebay second hand. I'd reccomend it if you're looking for a DSLR :) I can link you to a post I did recently about my photography equiptment if you're interested :)?

I have the canon 1100d (like half the world it seems!), its a fab starter slr, my Dad actually has one of the higher spec models and mine has some extra features on that his doesn't have... he was pretty gutted when he discovered that!

If it helps I bought a second hand canon 350d- I find it really "cosy" to hold.
ReplyDeleteYes, the Canon 1100D makes for a great beginner's DSLR! Alternatively, you could look into the 550D, an upgrade to the 1100D. I think it's slightly bigger and bulkier than the 1100D too. But you should find the specs much better. An even better one is the 600D. Has a flip screen so you can see yourself (e.g. if you're making YouTube videos). Both 550D and 600D works well for blog and general life photos I think :)

I don't have a DSLR, I have a Canon Powershot which is a point and shoot. I really don't know too much about DSLR's but I would recommend going to look at Canon's awesome selection because they never seem to let down!
ReplyDeleteI love my Nikon D3100 - It's my first DSLR and I think it's a great place to start :)

I´m using my canon450 with my 50mm 1,8 lens and I love it! The camera is old but you can buy newer versions which are even better. You can check out my photographys if you like to see!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking for exactly the same, if you find the answer please let me know too :)

I have a Nikon D3000 - couldn't decide between that & the Canon equivalent, so went into John Lewis for a play around & much preferred the feel of a Nikon. I think I'll maybe upgrade this year to one with a flip screen, but it has done me very well for blogging/holiday photos/etc.
ReplyDeleteI have the Canon 600d which produces amazing quality photos and I use a 50mm lens. I would definitely reccommend!
