Saturday Shopping:

I had to pop to town this morning to do boring bank stuff, but I couldn't resist having a little look round the shops while I was there.

I gave in to the famous £6 Primark dress... just as the sun has gone in. Oh well, hopefully it'll be out again soon! I also bought this cute bow shirt for work. Work is pretty casual, we need to look smart but still fashionable (due to working in fashion) if we meet up with a client so I thought this would be cute with a skirt.

How cool is this dress? It was £12 from Primark again and I fell in love. It's got a real 50s style to it, especially with the car print. I've actually got a Grease themed night coming up so will definitely be wearing it then!

I also went into Boots and picked up my new Benefit 'Hello Flawless' foundation. It came with a free sample of 'The Pore Fessional' too, so I'm excited to try them both out :) The Benefit counter in Boots was manic, I felt so sorry for the girls working.

I need to get on with uni work again this afternoon which is not cool, but least I'm not stuck inside while it's sunny! What's everyone else up to today?

Garnier 'Miracle Skin Perfector' BB Cream

I received 3 sample sachets of this BB cream after putting my details in on the Garnier Facebook page. I was looking forward to trying it as I hate having a heavy, cakey feeling face during the summer. These past few warm days have been ideal to try it out!

Application: I found a little goes quite a long way with this product! I used just under one sachet for my whole face. The cream is really smooth and easy to apply, it covered my skin evenly.

Feel: My first reaction was that it felt very greasy on my skin. When the product began to sink in the greasy feeling did start to go, but it took around 20mins for it to fully soak in. It has left my skin feeling slightly sticky still, but it doesn't look quite so shiny anymore. It does feel very light on my skin, unlike some foundations.

Coverage: The parts of my skin that have no major blemishes look really clear and even, if my whole face could look like that it would be amazing! However, the cream has not covered areas where I have redness very well at all.

I've used a bit of Benefit Boi-ing concealer on my problem areas and a light dusting of Rimmel Stay Matte powder to remove the last bit of shine and the coverage is a little bit better. I would only wear this in the daytime, if I was just popping to the shops, or on a summer holiday as an alternative to a tinted moisturiser maybe. I don't think I will be buying the full size version, but I would definitely consider it if it was less greasy and had slightly better coverage! Overall, it's not awful but not amazing either.

What a great conclusion to a review! Haha. Has anyone else tried this Garnier BB cream? Or tried any that seem better than this one?

In other news I've set up a specific twitter account for my blog.  Click here to follow me :)

mainly consisted of this

Picnic in the park for dinner, after a long day at work :) (please ignore the disgusting nail varnish)

Going to chill out now and watch some TV in bed, I feel really sleepy and headachy tonight and Josh is out DJing :(

What's everyone else been up to?

MAC Mineralize Blush - Dainty

MAC Mineralize Blusher in 'Dainty'

Got a new blusher when I was in Bath. It's such a gorgeous colour and as with all MAC products, it's really well pigmented. I also bought a new Real Techniques blusher brush today, to match my others :) Thought I might as well invest in a new brush seeing as I've got a new blusher ;)

While I was in boots I was checking out the Benefit makeup stand and saw the new 'Hello Flawless' liquid foundations were out to test! I've wanted to buy one of these since I knew they were realising them. They're not actually available for sale yet :( but they will be in a few days! Me and the nice Benefit lady worked out the right colour for my skin and surprise surprise it's the palest one haha. She gave me a sample to take home and see how it felt on my skin after it had been worn a while and to see whether it lasts etc. They didn't have my shade so I had to have a couple of shades darker, but it's okay because I'm just going to test how it wears on my hand for now. Look how cute the mini bottle is!

I always love Benefit packaging, but this one is especially cute. I've been wearing the sample on my hand all day and it seems to have lasted fine! I think I'm definitely going to buy it. I'll do a proper review once I've worn the right shade on my face for a few days.

I also have 3 sachets of the Garnier BB cream to test out - I want a lighter foundation/tinted moisturiser to wear in the summer and think it might just be this :)

Has anyone tried any of these products? What are you favourite blushers and foundations?

Recent outfits

Jacket - H&M, Dress - LOVE via Topshop, Tights - Primark, Shoes - River Island, Bag - H&M

(Left): Leggings - H&M, Top and Cardi - Primark (Right): Dress & Belt - Republic, Ear Cuff - Topshop

These are a couple of outfits I wore on our few days away. I tried to pack light as we had to go on the train, so for the nights out I wore the same shoes and jacket and just switched the dress up. Daytimes were similar, I mainly wore leggings and then changed my tops :)

This morning has been exciting, things are going well at work and I got a free Motel dress :) I need to do uni work this afternoon but I have got a lovely makeup post coming up a bit later.

What do you think of these outfits?

Tuesday, 27 March 2012

Hello, I'm back from my few days away in Bath :)

Had an awesome time, it was nice to just get away for a few days and chill out. Such nice weather as well! We mainly wandered around the town, did some shopping, lay in the park, ate nice food and drank nice drinks :)

Shopping on the first day was pretty successful really, I bought a robin print dress from a little market stall, denim jacket, bracelet and grey studded vest from H&M, ear cuff from Topshop and the mini dressing table shelves and plate from Urban Outfitters. On the second day I discovered the MAC shop and bought a new mineralize blusher :) I might go over some of these purchases in another post because otherwise this is going to be an essay!

This is what I ate on Sunday night, a Chimichanga from Las Iguanas. It was so so so nice. Just looking at the picture is making me want to eat it all over again!

I've got outfit posts from the last few days and loads of new products to review, but I don't want to overload you lot, so I'm going to leave you with a picture of a latte I had this morning.

Hope you've all been enjoying the sunshine :) x

Top & Shorts: Both Topshop

Feeling like a cross between someone out of Mamma Mia, mainly because of the batwing top, and a walking Topshop advertisement. Please excuse the bags under my eyes as well, they're not normally there I don't think, I must just be super tired today.

Anywayyy, it's really nice and sunny today! Got all the windows in the house open while I'm doing this bloody dissertation. Done about a thousand words so far though, so I'm going to reward myself with a little walk out in the sunshine soon.

A couple of people have shown interest in hearing my thoughts on the Real Techniques brushes I've got, there are loads already out there in the blogosphere, but I'm thinking I might do a mini review later. I am in no way a makeup expert, so it would just be a review on how I find using them, as a completely normal 21 year old girl. Hopefully that other people will be able to relate to! Would anyone be interested in reading that?

I'm off to Bath tomorrow, yaaaay! I hope the weather stays nice for the few days we're there. I'm looking forward to wondering round the town, looking at the touristy stuff, hopefully finding some good charity shops and eating lots of yummy food. I'm warning you now, I may have doubled in size by the time I get home haha. I'll make sure I take lots of pictures and maybe upload a couple on here :)

How is everyone on this sunny day? x

Ps. I mentioned a new ASOS dress arriving the other day and promised pictures. I'm actually sending it back because it's wayy too big on me and looks awful! So no pictures, sorry :)

Had a full day at work today and I am tired, but it was awesome. I feel so lucky that I actually enjoy my job and the people I work with :) Can't wait to finish uni and work there full time now!

Due to working the whole day I'm going to shamelessly post a picture of me from a while ago, wearing my boyfriend's fanta top and my new vans (I love them but they're cutting my heels up for some reason :/)

Still haven't got my New Look parcel :/ getting a tiny bit worried about where it's gone! Pictures of my new ASOS dress will be up tomorrow though, got a boring day of uni work so I'm sure I can fit in some picture taking (aka procrastination) somewhere!

I'm watching Mary's Bottom Line, Josh is out DJing so it's a lonely night home alone for me.

What's everyone else up to? x

It's sunny today

Top - Topshop, Leather patch leggings - H&M, Shoes - River Island

I had an eye test this morning and my eyes have got worse yet again :( wah. Other than that I've mainly done uni work today. All my posts seem to say the same, always doing uni work haha. I've got a few deadlines coming up soon so I'm trying to concentrate on them, then there's the dreaded dissertation too. Anyway, this is what I wore today. I have to wear a vest underneath this top otherwise my boobs fall out, not the best situation to get yourself in! And these are my all time favourite leggings, I bought them in H&M yearsss ago, before the whole leather legging thing was in fashion.

I'm going away on a mini holiday on Sunday with Josh, we're going to Bath and I'm excited. We don't actually know what we're going to do when we get there, but it'll be a nice little break!

I've also been asked to do a guest post about my favourite Topshop items, over on Rebecca-Louise's blog on Tuesday, so keep your eye out for that :)

I still haven't got the hang of posing for outfit shots, I feel so awkward haha. Anyone got any tips? x

Rings & Tings

I came home earlier to this lovely little package from Rings & Tings on my doorstep.

Logo on the back of Jiffy bag.

I ordered on Friday and my items arrived today. I bought the Semi Precious Ring in black (£3):

And the Triangle Necklace (£3.50):

I love both of them, and for the price they're such a bargain! However, the ring is too big for my skinny 'old lady fingers' (nickname courtesy of my boyfriend, brilliant). I'm not quite sure what to do with it yet :/ I might have to return it because it literally drops straight off my finger! I can't wait to wear the necklace with a shirt though, I think it'll look awesome tucked under a collar.

What do you think of them? :)

On a side note, I had my last ever uni presentation this morning and I think it went really well! Just got 2 more essays and my dissertation to hand in and then I'm finished forever! I can't wait :) I'm off to a pub quiz tonight which should be fun, it's nice to chill out after the stress of a presentation!
Are you doing anything exciting this evening?

to squeeze in a little real life (not online - that doesn't count) shopping trip between uni and work today.

Skin colour and black dotted tights - Primark, Stippling Brush & Powder Brush - Real Techniques,
Shampoo, conditioner & Backcomb in a bottle miniatures - Umberto Giannini

I'm going away to Bath for a few days next week and our current shampoo and conditioner in the shower are the massssive bottles of Tresemme, so I wanted to get something smaller that wouldn't take up valuable clothes space in my bag (or break my shoulder carring it round). I usually use a bit of Batiste when I'm backcombing my hair but thought I'd try this mini bottle instead, see how it goes!

I've definitely jumped on the Real Techniques bandwagon with these but see below for the disaster that was my previous powder brush. So I was in desperate need of new brushes.

What even is this!?

Crap bristles and no handle.... hmm it was about time I got some new ones!

I haven't tried them yet, but I'll let you know how I get on :)
Has anyone tried the Umberto Giannini products or the Real Techniques brushes? What did you think?

Currently watching:

Mary Portas' Bottom Line on catch up TV.

Had a lovely day with my Mom and Nan today. Drove back for a little while, had some lunch, gave my Mom her cushion (she loved it by the way :D) and then came home. Since then I've mainly lurked the blogging world and done a tiny bit of uni work.

I'm going to start some regular features on my blog, probably 'a week in pictures' (original I know) or weekly want/inspiration posts, something like that! I just feel like it needs a little bit of structure.

Sorry this is a random, boring, itty-bitty post. Here's a picture of the flowers my boyfriend bought for my mom :)

I'm secretly jealous I didn't get any :p

mother's day

Sorry for the rubbish images, just quickly took these now. This is just a really simple cushion cover for my Mom for Mother's Day. Used a white/light grey suede for the biggest section, then a dark grey and a woven fabric for the strips around the edges. Might seem quite a boring design but it matches my Mom's lounge and in person the textures of the fabrics make it a bit more interesting :)

New purchase

Had a little bit of an online shopping spree this morning (mainly to avoid doing any kind of uni work). Bought this really cute summery dress, along with some floral print pumps, a white shirt, lacy ankle socks and a scarf. I managed to forgot to check my address when I was ordering though so it's currently being sent to my old address :( apparently I have to wait for it be dispatched and then I can change the address (not really sure how that works but there we go!)

Today is mainly going to consist of making a cushion cover for my Mom for mother's day, doing uni work and tidying the house. Maybe pub later.

Anyway here's a nice little image of the dress so this isn't just a rambling text post :)

New shorts

I've just been mooching round the house today, doing a bit of uni work, bit of housework. Boring I know, but I wore my new Topshop high waisted turquoise shorts. They're a really soft denim so they're really comfy! I want to be able to wear these with no tights in the summer, so need to lose a bit of weight off my thighs and hips!

Top & shorts - both Topshop.

My face always looks weird in full length outfit photos, so here's evidence (hopefully) that it's not actually like that. Sorry about the lack of makeup, the only time I left the house today was to walk to the end of the road to give Josh the satnav because he forgot it.

I'm off out for a meal tonight, I'm getting hungry already just thinking about it! Then going to my friend's house for a girlie movie night. Not sure what I'm going to wear yet but hopefully it'll be more exciting than what I've worn today! Hope everyone has a fun Friday night :)

Matte black/Razzle Dazzle

Was going to do an outfit post today but I've been at work all day and I just wore tan trousers, vest top and cardi to work so it'd be very boring! Had a quiet night in tonight, relaxed and painted my nails while listening to my favourite music :)

Claire's Matte Black Nail Varnish and Deborah Lippmann 'Razzle Dazzle'

I haven't cleaned up around the edges yet, kind of took the pictures in the wrong order really. Oh well :)
